How to maintain your pump?

Maintaining the efficiency of a machine.

If a part of the pump is damaged and needs to be replaced, it is advisable to replace it only with authenticated part and not the cheap ones. Compromising the quality may decrease the productivity of the machines. Issues related to leakage of oil, lubrication, misalignment of pumps, etc. should be treated immediately. There are some basic rules, which should be followed by an operator for the proper working of machines. It is important to keep the valves of running water pump open, so as to avoid Water Hammer, which is a leading cause of damage to the pump.

Periodical inspection of pumps.

Important processes such as vibration monitoring, oil analysis and temperature trending of the pump should be conducted on a regular basis to avoid any unforeseen event. If the machines are inspected regularly, a person gets to know about the bubbling problems and can correct them before they cause harm to the entire machine. Any problem detected in the pump should be rectified immediately to restore its productivity. The issue should not be allowed to persist till the time it causes any irreversible damage to the equipments. When the machines are maintained regularly, it will result in auto reduction of repair cost and unscheduled downtime.

Awareness about the functioning of tools.

In order to increase the life of a pump, the operator should be given proper instructions regarding its handling. A person, who has a proper knowledge about handling a pump, will not mishandle it. This will result in its proper functioning. The users must be educated about the proper handling of these equipments. This is because, only if the concerned person has the complete pump information, he will be able to operate it correctly. According to a research about 70-80% of equipment failure occurs because of human errors. The reason for this is lack of training to the users who are operating them.

Taking proper care of pumps

If the life cycle cost of a pump is reduced, it can save the expenditure done on its repair and maintenance. Pumps play vital role in our lives. We use pumps almost everyday to do our work. They are essential tools and should be kept in a healthy condition. Machines will undergo some wear and tear, if they are used daily. Therefore, a person should handle these utilities carefully, as this would be beneficial in enhancing the maintenance and reliability of these equipments. A pump can remain in a proper functional state only if a person follows certain precautionary steps. These steps will also be helpful in increasing the lifecycle of machines.
