A lot of web site design companies grow out of great web designers who love writing great html, CSS, and Flash, and think maybe they can make a living out of web design.
Then there's company's like ourselves that come from a marketing background, that outsource our web design and are not interested in html, CSS, and Flash, but do understand the benefits of the internet as a marketing tool with greater reach than any other medium.
So what is it you want to achieve in your business?
Do you want to build the most complicated web site design on the planet or do you want to stay away from the nuts and bolts and focus on developing web site marketing strategies for businesses.
Either way, if you have the choice between finding a niche or getting work from anywhere you can. Get work from anywhere you can.
If you're like us, eventually you'll find yourself in a niche without meaning to be there just because people in an industry know you developed web sites for abc and xyz company and they want a similar web site.
Tell everyone you know about your business, and get your friends to do the same. Make sure your great Aunt on your mother's side knows that you develop web sites.
Action creates reaction. Do something, advertise somewhere, attend a breakfast and tell somebody. Eventually, you'll succeed.
