Procrastination

Life can be challenging at best. I even notice in myself that when things are going well, I have great energy. I also have great intentions but I find I have difficulty in execution. Action as we know speaks louder than words. What you do has far more significance than what you say you will do.

How do you organize and utilize time in a manner that works best for you? I know that when things are going wrong the motivation to carry on becomes less and the element of doubt rings in your brain.

Thats when one begins to procrastinate and analyze. The idea of tomorrow is great. You cant beat it, I will do it tomorrow. To go further with this we really need to go into the question of time; however I am not going to do that for the moment. I presume that you see the contradiction there.

Why is it that we put things off till tomorrow? What is the reason for time? Would it be fair to say that time helps us to organize. I say that I will travel at this time tomorrow and reach a certain destination at that time. This keeps me organized. I will get this done and that done at this time. Beyond this is there any other reason for time. As human beings we seem to give it all sorts of purposes, one of those is not facing today.

We know life as points in time. Our experiences are based on time. History is recorded events in time. When I say I will do something tomorrow is it really because I do not have the time to do it today or that it is just more convenient to say I will do it tomorrow?

One must be very honest with this question. I really feel that you been honest with yourself will do more for you than any book you read on the subject. You must look at what you are actually doing. This in itself can be a challenge because we tend to judge ourselves and use all sorts of words to explain our position.

Would it be possible just to observe yourself without any judgment to see what you are actually doing? If you cannot, then that in itself tells a story. Let me put it this way. We can create all sorts of methods and clever techniques but if you are not honest with yourself, nothing in the world will work for you. Sorry I know that sounds harsh, but lets face it, illusion is illusion.

Procrastination pervades every aspect of our lives. And weve mastered it to perfection, having learned a subtle form of it when we were babies.

We delayed falling asleep because our mothers wouldnt cradle us in her arms. Weve procrastinated in performing our duties at home, in school, in the work place, and in our most fragile human relationships.

Some of the tips I will share on my blog may be useful and some may be irrelevant. Others will come in handy not necessarily today, but at a later stage in life. Come join us as we discuss this subject.
